Field notes on the life you’re already living.

Short readings from the space between who you’ve been and who you’re becoming.

Not advice. Recognition.

Things worth reading twice.

places · field note 01

You keep moving the same problem.

Every new city was going to be the one. A cleaner apartment, a version of you who goes running, who answers the message the day it arrives, who is finally, quietly happy.

Then the boxes come apart and the old weather moves back in. Same restlessness, new window.

It was never the city’s job to change you. It was the city’s job to show you which parts of you travel, and which parts you keep leaving at the door.

timing · field note 02

What the waiting was for.

You called it procrastination. You called it fear. You made a list of everything that would have to be true before you were allowed to begin.

But some of that waiting was doing quiet work. You were not stalling. You were becoming the person who could carry the thing you wanted, instead of being flattened by it.

You were not late. You were early, and part of you knew it before you had the words.

people · field note 03

The person you become in the room.

There are people who make you funnier, slower, more honest. And people around whom you become a spokesperson for yourself, managing the impression, editing the story down until it lands.

You have blamed yourself for both. For the ease and for the effort. As if connection were a verdict on your character rather than a reading of the fit.

Stop asking whether they are the right person. Ask who you are when they are there, and whether you recognize them.

More arrive as the light changes. This is where they’ll live.

You don’t need a new answer. You need to hear the question in your own voice.
